Make your own Onigiri Bento

Bergen Assembly

12th December / 11:00

Ready to bring home some new handmade goodies from our Asian food workshop? Don’t miss the Onigiri & Bento box session on December 14th at Bergen Assembly. Japanese artists, Ayuko Dan and Haruna Inagaki, will show you how to make a typical (and unique) Japanese lunch box with a lecture of food culture in Japan. This workshop is open to both individuals and groups such as family or pair, and you can customize your Bento box for gluten-free or vegan meals.

Onigiri is a common part of lunch culture in Japan, playing a similar role to sandwiches in Western culture. In recent years, bento boxes have gained worldwide attraction as edible artworks with decorative side dishes, by shaping them into animals and anime characters and more. Come and experience the food culture that combines rich nutrition with colorful appearance.

*At the workshop, you can make your own original bento box, so please bring an empty box! This is an all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-fill workshop.

* We recommend children be 6 years old or older to join the activities, but all ages are welcome.
