MINIZINE EXHIBITION IN BERGEN
There were two Mini Zine exhibitions in Bergen, one at Boksalongen in the Literature House, and one at Northing Space. We reused some exhibition materials from the Mini Zine exhibition in Oslo, but instead of displaying individual mini zines in a matrix that fill the whole room, we chose to group them ten and ten as a bouquet. In this way, the bouquets can be arranged organically in the room and be moved around according to the situation. We used real broad-leaved plants together with the installations, which made it more decorative.
Exhibition at Boksalongen was opened at the same time of the seminar-day of Bergen Art Book Fair 2019. A part of the exhibition was contributing to decorate the three conference rooms in the Literature House. Mini Zine boxsets that contain 12 radom zines were the most popular products at our stand at BABF. Many that bought the mini zine box were also recommended to visit the exhibition. Afterwards the exhibition stayed at Boksalongen for a month and was adjusted accordingly to the daily business of the book store.
After the exhibition in Boksalongen from14. november til 14. desember, we moved the whole exhibition to our Northing Space that we just took over at that time. In January we reopened the exhibition and named it Mini Zine Exhibition Revisit, where all the Norwegian mini zines reunited with about 500 Chinese mini zines. The Norwegian mini zines occupied the floor with the Chinese mini zines on the wall behind them. This is one months exhibition from11. January til 11. February.
On 25th January Northing collaborated with Illustrator Anette Louise Skog, who was also one of the contributors, on a workshop in the Literature House, where Anette taught the kids how to make their own mini zines. It turned out to be a big success. To tell some stories or create something visual in such a small format seems to be inspiring and unintimidating for the kids. Many of the mini zines that created by the kids can be considered to join our future Mini Zine exhibitions in Norway.
