Visual artist and architect Maria Helena K. Nerhus and writer Helle Lindrud presents «O» at Northing Space exploring how slow actions can create significant impact and structural change.

«O» centres on light sculptures made using Nerhus’s self-developed biomaterial. The material possesses its own agency and transforms over time, challenging conventional understandings of function, value, and permanence. The works bring together principles of modernism and traditional craft.

The creative process is open to the public and unfolds in collaboration with writer Helle Linderud, who leaves a letter in the space each day. The letters function as a literary response to the physical work taking shape on site.

«O» is inspired by Isamu Noguchi’s Akari light sculptures, but uses biomaterial instead of rice paper and steel wire instead of bamboo. On Saturday, 24 January 2026, the site-specific installation  «O», produced on location will be presented, followed by an artist talk and finissage.
